Embark on a Journey to Discover your Heritage
The Eymundson Heritage site shares our families story of emigration from Iceland and Norway beginning in the mid to late 1800′s, and from England beginning in the early 1900’s. Moreover, our story tells, at least what we have learned, of the intertwining of the families from these three countries, of their hopes and dreams, of their struggles and heartaches. Our ancestors experiences are not much different than those faced by other emigrants of their day.
Our story follows the lineage of these families from approximately one hundred years prior to their emigration to approximately 100 years after their immigration. This lineage, our lineage, is the reason the site is named the Eymundson Family Heritage site.
Nevertheless, the heritage I write about is not only Eymundson heritage. It is the heritage of thousands, if not tens of thousands of Americans and Canadians who descended from these lineages from Norway, Iceland, and England. It is also the heritage of descendants of those family members who chose to remain in their ancestral homeland, as well as descendants of those family members who emigrated to other countries. This may well be your heritage!
If not, I hope, at the very least our story inspires you to embark on your own journey to discover your heritage. I am certain that you will be happy that you did.
Our journey to discover our heritage has not come to an end, we have learned much about our people and our ancestral homelands, however, there is much more to learn. We have learned many heartbreaking things, of ancestors who departed this world far too young, and of others who disappeared without a trace. Nevertheless, with sorrow also comes joy, and we have learned much that makes our heart soar.
When first launched, the Eymundson Family Heritage site shares just enough information and images to set the stage for our story. Than as time allows, more information, photos, maps and drawings will be added. It is our hope that visitors will find the site easy to navigate. The search feature will enable you to search names, places and dates. Moreover, the site will contain links to assist you in your family history research.
Please feel free to contact us via the Eymundson Family Heritage site blog, or via the contact form on the website if you have any questions, concerns, or information that you think we might be interested in.
